GUIDES

{{ guideName }} on Apple TV

On iOS you can set a proxy right in the Wi-Fi settings. tvOS has no such setting — the only way is a configuration profile that sets the proxy and adds the root certificate to trusted ones. ProxyBeam generates that profile for you.

You'll need
· A Mac with {{ guideName }} installed and running · An Apple TV on the same Wi-Fi network as the Mac · An iPhone or iPad — optional, for easier URL entry
01
Save the {{ guideName }} certificate

In {{ guideName }} on your Mac, choose {{ menuPath }} and save the certificate in the .cer format.

02
Generate the profile in ProxyBeam

Open ProxyBeam and drag the saved .cer file into the window (or click Choose File…). The app starts a local server and shows a link like http://192.168.x.x:PORT/proxy.mobileconfig. Click the link — it's copied to your clipboard.

03
Install the profile on Apple TV

On the Apple TV, open Settings → General → Privacy & Security. Highlight Share Apple TV Analytics — but don't click it. Press Play/Pause on the remote — a profile menu opens. Enter the link from step 2 and press Play/Pause to confirm.

Tip: typing the URL with the remote is tedious. If an iPhone or iPad is nearby, a keyboard notification appears on it when you start typing — tap it and paste the copied link.
04
Trust the certificate

Go to Settings → General → About → Certificate Trust and enable trust for {{ certName }}.

05
Make sure {{ guideName }} is running

{{ guideName }} must be running on the Mac and listening for connections — the default port is {{ port }}. The Mac and the Apple TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Important
One profile at a time. Delete the old profile before installing a new one — conflicting profiles can break networking on the device. Delete the profile when you're done. While it's active, all Apple TV traffic goes through the proxy — with {{ guideName }} closed, the device has no internet. Remove it in Settings → General → VPN & Device Management. Your Mac's IP can change. If traffic stops being captured, the IP most likely changed. ProxyBeam detects the new address automatically — generate the profile again and reinstall it.
